Barriers to Teaching English to Non-Native English-Speaking Teachers in Indonesian Secondary Schools: Policy Recommendations

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the Indonesian context, English is considered a local subject and there no mandated curriculum for in elementary schools. Meanwhile, has been compulsory taught at secondary school level. The present study aims to explore barriers teaching experienced by non-native teachers schools policy recommendations. employed qualitative case method. Concerning data collection, authors garnered through semi-structured interviews with six private public Indonesia. findings of reveal that several include lack training learning, academic literacy among teachers, facilities, English-relevant materials, student motivation, exposure outside school. Drawing on these results, some recommendations improve language context are discussed this study.</p>
